Sidebar, a small volume critically acclaimed creative cocktail bar in the Washington, DC area, is seeking a full time Beverage Director/Bartender to run its operations (the position involves bartending several nights a week). Named one of the top 5 craft cocktail bars in DC (alongside PX, Gibson, Passenger, PS7), Sidebar made the cover of the 2011 annual Washingtonian Magazine's Best Bars issue. We're an unassuming bar serving exceptional handcrafted drinks in addition to an excellent small menu from a tiny exhibition kitchen.
This is an opportunity for an ambitious and talented bartender, bar manager, or manager to assume primary creative control of a new, well respected bar and make a name for themselves. Must be organized, responsible, charming, have a strong work ethic and be passionate about cocktails (know their history, have created a distinctive cocktail menu, etc.) You will be the face of this bar. Experience at this level of cocktail making a must, as well as demonstrated bar management experience or other FOH management experience. The job will entail bartending several nights a week, floor managing, seasonal beverage menu creation, loads of prep, supervising execution of beverages by others, scheduling, ordering, cost controls, etc.
