Sous Chef/Head Chef

Position Description:Lebanese Taverna is DCs first and foremost Lebanese dining experience. With uncompromising hospitality and the very best in authentic, traditional cuisine, Lebanese Taverna is family-owned to this day and has been the Washingtons best-loved ethnic restaurant for over 30 years.

Now with 11 locations, including 6 full-service restaurants, four quick-serve cafes and a retail market, our restaurants are warm and inviting, featuring contemporary Middle Eastern design cues with spacious dining rooms. Our menus offer many traditional Lebanese specialties and updated regional favorites.

Successful candidates will have a proven record of consistent performance, professional growth and personal development. Our kitchen leaders are inspiring culinary professionals, understand the demands of a guest-driven dining experience, can replicate our cuisine accurately and quickly and think on their feet in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

Ordering and receiving of grocery, produce, meat and fish.
Expertise in butchery, bulk production of recipes and the ability inspire and train others to execute with consistency and accuracy.
Maintain and assure accurate and adequate production of a variety of menu components at the restaurant unit level.
Inventory, plan, and execute production and line service daily.
Plan for and execute catering orders and special events.
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor, interacting with guests as required.
Commit to a high standard communication and professionalism including attendance Provide quality service in all areas of food production in accordance with guided specifications while maintaining organization, cleanliness and sanitation of work areas and equipment.

Requirements:

Minimum 2 years of similar experience in upscale-casual kitchens or the equivalent. The ability to communicate clearly and efficiently with co-workers, guests and executive management in English. A love for food, a passion for cooking, and a dedicated work ethic. Spanish and Arabic language a plus. Familiarity with Middle-Eastern and South Asian cuisines desired, but not required.
