We're looking for a General Manager for a well-established,Fine Dining restaurant in Carmel, California. We have about 225 seats including a full bar and 55 seat event space. Our restaurant enjoys a great reputation in the community and we are implementing plans for expansion and growth.
A successful applicant will be well-versed in all aspects of the restaurant business with experience as a server and/or bartender and at least 3 years management experience. We want someone who has appreciation for great food, fine wine and refreshing cocktails and the ability to discuss and sell the same. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working the floor and also willing to mentor and if necessary, discipline staff. We value clear thinking and strong opinions. You'll be expected to speak your mind and help build consensus. This position requires a "hands-on" approach and about 50-55 hours per week with two days off. We are an independent restaurant group located on the Monterey Peninsula in North-Central California. We've been in business for 27 years and operate Rio Grill, Tarpy's Roadhouse and Montrio Bistro. Each of our places is a unique take on casual fine dining. We use wood-burning grills in all three and feature an oak smoker at Rio and a wood-burning oven at Montrio. Each place has an extensive wine program (all 3 have had Wine Spectator awards for many years) and full bars. We have extraordinary tenure amongst our staffs- we have at least 20 staff with over 15 years of service and 6 with over 20.
